In the heart of the medieval, walled hill-town of Dozza, the building opposite the ancient castle of the Sforzas was once home to the horses ridden by knights of old. That same building now houses a restaurant called La Scuderia (The Stables).
The restaurant has been run by the Preti family since 1977. It features an air-conditioned internal dining room where the original horse stalls, feeding troughs and various other original features can still be seen. There is also an enclosed veranda, which looks out onto the fortress and can be used all year round.
The kitchen produces a range of authentic traditional dishes, time-honoured specialities and seasonal menus.
You can enjoy various types of fresh, hand rolled pasta such as garganelli, tagliatelle and tortellini to name but a few, passatelli or tortellini served in a clear broth, as well as typical Apennine mountain soups made with spelt and barley; the main dishes include grilled meats cooked over wood fire, stews and an excellent assortment of local salamis and cheeses served with the restaurant's own piadina flat bread; to follow there are mixed platters of cheeses and preserves and a wide range of desserts, biscuits and cakes, all produced on the premises.
The wine list has been carefully developed in collaboration with the Regional Wine Association.
In addition, upon request we can offer customised menus for special occasions and tour groups.
